Tallahassee International Airport to Host Training Exercises
February 13, 2026
Tallahassee International Airport will conduct a full-scale emergency exercise on Thursday, Feb. 19. Conducted every three years, this multi-agency exercise is a critical part of the community’s disaster preparedness efforts and includes City of Tallahassee departments, aviation partners and community partners.
On Thursday, Feb. 19, registered volunteers will participate in the mock disaster as “victims” of a major aircraft incident or their friends/family members. Volunteers are needed from 6 a.m. to noon, including a mandatory safety briefing at 8:15 a.m. Those interested in participating must pre-register via the online portal.
Additionally, individual first responder teams, including the Tallahassee Fire Department, will conduct specialized training during the week of the full-scale exercise. From Monday, Feb. 16, through Friday, Feb. 20, there will be the intermittent presence of smoke and fire from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on airport property due to the training apparatus.
